New Leadership Dedicated to Investing in New Bern's Future
Hello, I’m Trey Ferguson, and I’m honored to be running for Ward 1 Alderman here in New Bern. I am a local government lawyer at Sumrell Sugg, P.A., an active member and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of New Bern, and am raising a young family with my college sweetheart, Kelsie.
As a resident, husband, father, and active member of our community, I believe deeply in the future of our great city. With a background as a former high school math teacher and a current local government attorney and civil litigator, I bring a practical and solutions-oriented approach to leadership.
I’m passionate about ensuring New Bern remains a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. As a member of the New Bern Board of Adjustment and the Craven Community Foundation, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside community leaders to help shape the growth of our city. My experiences have also helped me better understand the issues the next Board of Alderman will face. My legal practice focuses on areas of land use and local government planning, which has given me the expertise needed to tackle the challenges of responsible development while preserving the character and charm of New Bern.
My platform is centered around two core principles: maintaining and enhancing the quality of services our citizens depend on and encouraging responsible, sustainable development that benefits all of us. As your Alderman, I will work tirelessly to ensure that New Bern’s growth is both strategic and thoughtful, investing in the future while safeguarding the values and rich history that make our city special.
